Pu Tian Restaurant

July 22, 2010 - 4:07 pm  Print This No Comments

21.07.2010 – A stranger that I knew online for more than a year had visited Singapore for leisure. His name is LG, carried NOKIA & SAMSUNG phone, but didn't see his SONY ERICSSON along, utterly not a fan of APPLE. LOL!

Okay, the meowgite had a short visit to Singapore and his schedule was pretty tight and gotta rush back to Sentosa to catch his last bus back to JB @ 10.30pm so this dinner was meant for him and surprisingly, to my amazement, a lot of netizens from Multiply social network turned out; 19 of us including me, separated into 2 tables.

Woot! What a huge gathering with strangers I say and only knew a few of them in the group before this, the rest are just sheer new faces first time seen on the spot and again, I had problem remembering those names. Forgive my rusty RAM! Definitely need a hot swap! This time we're heading to a Heng Hua Restaurant named Pu Tian (่ކ็”ฐๅ…ดๅŒ–่œ้ฆ†). First try on the dishes and concluded it doesn't pleased my stomach (too much Teochew dishes I supposed!) much but some dish are still acceptable as appetizer.

Ah, didn't really chat much with LG bro but glad 3 Kuchingites were present though which includes Gomus. Whilst, enjoy all photos below.

Stir fried kailan with bean curd skin.
They should blend some enokitake in it.

Pu Tian Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychee.
Probably I ate this often and didn't impress me much. lol.

Deep fried duck with yam.
Okay, this yam taste alright but I couldn't gnaw on any duck chunks?

Deep fried chicken with garlic.
Taste like any other chicken. It's kinda unique to chew with the leaf I say.

Steamed prawn with minced garlic.
Tasteless but garlic with prawn is fine for me.

Fruit platter.

Operation Chiong Penang – P2 (OCPG)

June 4, 2010 - 3:10 pm  Print This No Comments

Previously, on Operation Chiong Penang (P1 , 2009)….
P/S : Click image to zoom

It was 6.30AM in the morning and first thing I saw was this yolk, didn't pondered much…

Just wanna shot this wonderful Sun Rise @ Penang although is a bit hazy!

29.05.2010 – It's my birthday! It was 6.30am, I woke up and the rest were still asleep soundly. Beautiful saturday dawn I recalled, as the yolk rise from mist of haze. This thought came straight to me – open burning again! C.Y. called and surprised that he knew the way to Sg. Ara. Haha. Not bad for a Terengganese who stayed in Penang for more than 15 years. We went to Greenland earlier in the morning which later I found out the place happened to be somewhere around Cathedral of The Holy Spirit that I visited last year, how coincidence. Yeap, I've tried almost every food there last year and not too bad to try again on that particular morning.

We ordered a number of dishes, range from Nasi Lemak to Curry Noodle to Hor Fun and Hokkien Noodle. Gee, what a morning breakfast! It seemed heavy for consecutive days with C.Y haha. We had a little yab before heading back to my place and start off The SFW chiong operation.

C.Y scooped out a portion of it and making it incomplete. Hehe… but the portion is scanty thou.

As for the Hor Fun… this is definitely delicious. The starchy feel gives you a sensational taste of Asia!

Made by local chinese, I simply thought there's something missing in this dish! The belacan chili paste that is! The curry is lovely…

Famous in Penang but compared with the one I tried @ Sunshine Market which are very much alike our Sarawak's Laksa (see this), this one still  … the taste of it thats what I meant.

I was full and do you think I can finish this? Neh… we shared hahhaha! The ingredients include cucumber, fried tofu, fried prawn clot., some bean sprout and sesame for garnishing… taste ODD!

What's heap with The SFW Operation Chiong Penang? Yeap, first thing is to have breakfast (Argh, secound round!!) with the gangs. Okay, I had Pasembur (Penang's Indian Rojak) which didn't turn out to be savouring, a few bites was enough and I was full. Ugh… I bloated hard!

Alright, the morning activities would be Butterfly Farm & Batu Ferringhi. From southern part of the island to the nothern part took approximately 40 mins. The ticketing booth doesn't seemed organize after all, some people just cut queues; okay? Perhaps am stuck with the rules of The Lion Isle that doesn't made me feel pleased of what I've seen.

I groped through the farm and humidity seemed high as I noticed water sprinkler were active all while. Butterflies were everywhere flapping it's wings in the air and pollinated flowers around. Besides butterflies, there's also some insect exhibit and artifacts on sale which seemed too exotic to be sold there.

At Butterfly Farm

Pretty unique to have a white spot at the center of the wings…

Earth Worms!!!! It's huge!

This stripe butterfly is pretty common but look at the details of it's wings… isn't it lovely?

The scorpions are poisonous creature. A stung from the tail will get you numb and paralyzed. Scorpion meat? hehehehe!

Pollination in progress

Now they need something sweet. That's banana (Dried out)

Reminds me of someone!

This piece is is one of my favorite and lucky shot that was.

Another type of common butterfly seen. I did try to capture it with my bare hands.. it's easy actually… What I don't like are those powdery substance…

Landing safe on the leaf..

Okay… time for some reviews!!! What do you think of this huge bug?

Setting up camera on the sandy shores ain't easy!

You just have to do this again… LOL! After some apple photo booth prank!

Emo again! LOL!

Here comes the drill…. Chinese Ducking Photographer!

ahahahaha! Sheet am wearing shoes…

Bikini Inspector on duty! Beach was almost deserted on that day!

Oh yeah!

Stomach kena bump! "Ugh! Sakit!"

Crazy siao kiaz @ Mantis Fist

Some photoshop here

Okay.. here's the proper one for the couples!

I hate crows but their father looks smooth!

After the butterfly farm, we check out Batu Ferringhi Beach, just in front of Hard Rock Hotel. Okay, we had a whimsical footage here which am yet to compile but will be, pretty soon. We hang out at the place for an hour before heading back to the condo, had KFC (finger lickin' good – oh yeah), clean up ourself and head for weekend mass at Cathedral of The Holy Spirit (at Greenland). Weird, we encountered some lady who likes to bump on people randomly, and she wore a dashing silky dress to mass, oh dear! After mass, we head to Queensbay Mall for dinner – TGI Fridays. okay here's the funny part….

The day was almost over, and the gangs were behaving rather escentric, not that am not aware of, all 3 of them had forgotten something which in my heart was hinting an emptiness or the sort; something was missing – yes, that word : Happy Birthday. They seemed to squint their eyes randomly, some sort of message passing by that am not aware of, some sort of secret that is unknown to me; in other words, I don't know what are they up to. So, we're at the restaurant and being placed somewhere not so conspicious to the crowd (which is good for me) where Mike hinted, and complaint about the seating placement. I almost burst out with laughters! I thought somethings up in this restaurant pretty soon. We ordered our dish n' platters and The Jack Daniel's Salmon I ordered taste really good no doubt about that. We yab and took photos and later, finished up our dishes.  Again, they have this odd expressions on their faces. Suddenly I heard 'Happy Birthday' song sung far away from our table. TGIF crew was dramatically singing and clapping for other birthday celebrants. Gab said, "Wow, so many birthdays today…" I was pretenuous that nothing ever happened and never heard of what I've just heard LOL….

Adrian & Mike decided to go to the washroom together which left me & Gab there on the seats. I thought they're up to something… possibly they might have gone to remind the crews or something. See? Predictions made right! That's my secret reviewed today! Kekkeeke!!!!! They came back so I stood up and yearn for a relief after such heavy meal and decided to ask for the bill. They stopped me immediately and told me to stay for a while!! Okay… I knew somethings up. Possibly it's gonna be my turn. LOL!

In fact, the crew approached me, 6 of them if I recalled correctly. They called me to stand on my seat and shouted out loud

"Kumar, today is my Birthday"…

My mind was like… kNN… So embarassing!!! Okay, that was a surprise! haha! I didn't dare to shout out loud as it'll attract audiences but what could I do to end such joke? I still have to shout out indeliberately! Okay, I took it as a fun filled ones, no oblique! :D I made a wish and the cake suddenly moved far away off me which the staff claimed am supposed to blow that cake 3 feet away from my mouth (obviously it's another SFW request). I blew hard and whalla…. Candle blown but waiter's hand was full of my saliva. hahahahahahahahaaha! He was "mad" but I appologized.. he accepted hahaha.

See? Iphone Geek! Android Geek!

Celakaz Mike!

Taste fine for me but fried Mozzarella? hmmmm!!!!

Like any other chicken wing you can find around

Fridays Three For all… that Loaded Potato Skin taste heavenly! Comes along with tartar sauce and cream

Adrian had this Key West Grouper as main course!

Mike had Southwest Mac & Cheese

Gab had Chicken & Shrimp Diablo! Wah not bad huh!

I had this Jack Daniel's Salmon… gone wild with the sauce!

My Birthday cake LOL!!!

Thanks Mike… he bought this in Melaka!

Thanks guys for the treat and celebrations! Can't be more juvenile than this heh? I thought it was cake smacking or something hahah. Sort of like a daydreamer! Well, memorable 27th birthday that was. Up next would be Adrian's @ OCKL, we're gonna accertain that!!!!!!! I was supposed to being the gang for Hagaan Daaz treat but too bad it closed earlier so maybr OCKL then ^_^"

Thagyan 2010

April 13, 2010 - 11:27 pm  Print This No Comments

11.04.2010 – Another week had passed. Was invited by multiplians for a sunny sunday event at Sembawang Park at northern part of the island. The public transport was flocked with Burmese! We reached the park within 10 minutes and could hear gongs some distance away. I could also see Johore Bahru across the straits. Splashy Splashy water came from behind and drenched my back. I was holding my camera with care making sure that it is dry at all times. Yes, it's Burmese Water Festival. Something like Songkran celebrated by the Thais but this is originated by Burmese themselves. If you are to dig deeper onto these festivals of origin, Hindus came by the list as they celebrate similar festival called Holi to where they throw colored powder and water at each other.

At a glance, there were quite a number of stalls on the spot, just like fun fairs. As we walked closed by, Angela's friend (Burmese) offered us some drink to quench our thirst. The drink taste good which is a combination of plum and grass jelly. This home made drink is just perfect for such weather I thought.

Am really surprise with the Burmese crowds and most through observance, are likely to be  expatriates and students which also reminds me their homeland; abhorrent government officials and what I heard was all Myanmar working outside of the country must pay back 10% of their income back to their country according to the laws of Myanmar government. hence, the Myanmar Embassies are responsible for the collection of this income tax. How absurd is that?

Anyway, back to Thagyan Festival, we were being offered free food & drinks from Burmese concurrently and never felt such pride & treatment  from unknown strangers. Friendliness and comity seem to be part of their culture and that was what I felt the other day. In order to save more water for conservation purposes, the officials limited the water throwing activities within certain vicinity and mostly are youngsters enjoying the splashy events. :D

4 photographers, including me, Jing Kiat, Angela, and Lily shot the event with grins. Oh, BTW… Burmese culinary are mostly served with soup / somewhat glazy which in other words, taste pretty alien for our gastro ingestion. A little is sufficient for the oddness. Enjoy the following photos attached…

Emmanuel & Jamie (Special Coverage)

February 8, 2010 - 4:25 pm  Print This No Comments

01.01.10 –  I was back to Kuching, my beloved hometown to attend this freaking fun & loving wedding of our secondary school mate. Finally, EJ is tying his knot with Jamie Lo after 5 years of being together. Oh, that's what his proposal video said. It's loud and clear. The SFW – it all started from Form 5 I recalled, bunch of adolescences dunno where to wander and tarry around town, being sluggish. Oh yesh, we're young and energetic and game frags were part of our topics. We gathered around kopitiams and discuss about tactics and strategies. The boys are real pro in this.

"We'll name this group THE SFW, how's that?" EJ asked feveredly some 10 years ago.

Everyone agrees and that's where the name came by. There were 8 members initially,  and everyone was crazy minded. Other than frags, there's no other thing we could do. But of course, we have our tertiary studies later on. Time passe! We're now at our 27/28 and do you see how time flies? Which reminded us what we've achieved in this 10 golden years. Mid-life crisis in mind, yeah… apart of that we're still looking for options to live with, for better lifestyles, compassionate love we sought and enigmas that'll surface sooner or later.

Well, back on the track. After I touched down, the boys gathered @ my house for some preps & formation discussions for tomorrow but of course, it's our EJ's BACHELOR'S NIGHT! So, we've prepared something unusual & memorable for him – and it's gonna go WOW factor for the general audience. It was Mike's idea after analyzing a few youtube clips from KL-gites and since nobody's doing so in Kuching, we'll have to be the first batch to start with.

THIS IS SCOOBY DOO EPIC @ THE SPRING.

EJ had no idea what we're up to. We blindfolded him and he was thrilled with amusement when we groom him up. He thought it was some sorta pig costume or stuff like that. LOL!! We're all burst with laughters. We roamed around The Spring Shopping Mall (Kuching) and pedestrians at the concourse was elated with The Costume in which they thought it was The Spring Management's idea. Well, we've again surprised the crowd.  We unfold EJ @ Silhouette (restaurant) and thank god he was sporty – He as well was burst into laughters.

We had some plans for him after the dinner. Task 1, to buy strangers ice-creams but it must be a lady / girl. Fair enough, the only place to buy ice-cream is sugar bun and look what we have there, superb scooby with tons n tons of admires. WOhooO! Task 2, roam around the mall and say 'HI' to everyone whilst me & Bernard went to Parkson to buy white sleeves. I bet that scob was enjoying shaking hands around. Do enjoy the photos & descriptions below!

The day after we set forth to Hilton early in the morning and the heng tai (bridegroom-men) was being mock by the sisters' (bridesmaids). Well, not to say mock, we need clearance to enter the bride's chamber. That's why the games seemed to be intense. Luckily we had our fun-filled bachelor's night (which was a good training ground before this very day) and passed all sectors prepared by the jee mui's (bridesmaids). The bitter gourd doesn't taste bitter to me at all. I had a few bites.. It goes YUMMY & 'sweet' – same goes to the plum… Ice-cream is easy case for BLCC & Robin. The chung brother's had those WASABI Biscuit. Gab did hint Adrian about the wasabi but he ain't listening… so he got a throb on later afternoon after consuming the wasabi… LOL! As for Mike, I can't recall what he had.. LOL!! EJ is so darn lucky to have the heng tai's around! We covered him!!!!!

Later on… we attended mass & nuptial ceremonial at St. Joseph cathedral – the mass ended at noon. We had a pleasant lunch at 3rd mile's Dong Guan Restaurant. EJ was not present… he had fine dining with Jamie @ Hilton. How sweet! Afternoon was chaos… I compiled the video with limited resources and dang I hate that last minute job to be frank! Luckily I managed to finish it off by 6PM again…. last minute job sux to the fullest! The dinner was held @ Hilton as well and I had my little surprise for the couple which was the music video that I did with together with Adrian, Mike & Gab @ Penang back in November 2009. I palpitate the moment the clip was being broadcast, oh dear. I have no idea what I've came through but that feeling was scary; fear of chastise. Don't ask me why… I dunno where that came from. Adrian saw my expression and he stared at me like he'd seen a ghost! :D So I just ate my duckling while the rest of the clip were being broadcast to the curious audience. Glad there were applaud heard and laughters too. LOL! Why worry? .____.|| Enough rants.

Alright enjoy the pictures & videos prepared for this special coverage of THE SFW Memorable Wedding!!

Note : SFW (Sick Freaking Weirdo) , Halycube (Halycube is trademark of Halyconstudio & Cube Photography)

I see Adrian is more embarrassed than EJ (blindfolded) here. Cuz' EJ's blindfolded and nobody knew who he was.

Unfold!! Finally! Welcome to the party!

That spec was from AVATAR screening in Brisbane LOL! I wonder if he sees twinkle twinklehere

And Scob did some promo for this restaurant! LOL! That display board is a bit misleading though :P

Taste a bit sweet and not so dry. :D
