Orang Asli Dinner

June 4, 2009 - 2:58 pm  Print This No Comments

So we had Orang Asli dinner @ Orang Asli Restaurant nearby sitting next to the straits of JB & Singapore, windy and confined. It was 7pm and all of us were hungry and restless after hours of shooting. The dish turned out not so "asli" (exotic) and I cogitate a while, it’s just a name! HAHA! Like those seafood restaurant, this restaurant served decent food with reasonable price; cheap in other words. Can’t really find such cheap seafood in Singapore though. Pretty flare & satisfied with the bill @ RM140+ for 5 pax for what we had ordered. Ah, see for yourself… :P

Orang Asli

May 29, 2009 - 11:54 am  Print This No Comments

After the short gathering, Albert brought us to this not so remote village called Perling Orang Asli Village (some native resides here), just opposite of Singapore’s Lim Chu Kang town; with the strait dividing the two countries, intrinsically. The time was 4PM and all photographers unloaded their bags respectively. It was a pretty hot day and I noticed some of us already sweat vehemently after a few minutes of walk especially Costner. Not knowing whom we might bump onto but by coincidence, LiAi’s greeted two similar faces, Kakak (elder sister) & Adik (younger sister) who’s jesting on the chair. The children seemed to remember the jolly face of her’s albeit this was her second trip. Warm smiles shimmer on these innocent gaiety faces and unwittingly pose in front of our lens with amusement, no second thought. Sitting next to Kakak & Adik were 2 young ladies at their 20s’ and were curious of our photography intentions, doubt if we’re reporters or something. We denied and answered : "Oh, kita main foto comparisen hobi je~ (We played on photo comparison, just a hobby )" and they just grinned and let us continue…

The children, well, all they need is something to bite on and pretty amazed that a few attracted many came upon and ask for more O_O; Late evening, we had dinner at nearby Orang Asli Seafood Restaurant (up next) but some kids even ask if they could join. There were too many of them, we have no choice but to let them down. Moreover, some of their parents even approached us and ask for money of shooting their children, we dashed off. :P

A short gathering

24.05.2009 – Sunday

As usual I went to bed late and woke up pretty early that morning, and found that there’s a short circuit at my unit. Oh, my friend accidentally hook on a faulty charger and caused the trip. Owner questioned me but I sounded like a 12 year old, ain’t know nothing of what fish is going on and feed’ him : ‘Oh, probably the fuse burnt’ LOL! He was skeptical, so am I. But I just acknowledged him that all will be done when he’s back. Eventually, my friend found out it was the electrical box that shut us off a while. Phew~

This is gonna be a long day for me. Off I went to meet the rest at Woodlands and gather up, destination would be Johore Bahru @ Taman Sutera Utama. Honestly, I have no idea of this location but Albert’s pretty familiar with JB so we’ll have to leave the directions to him. haha. We had non-stop yabbers in the car and especially when photographers meet one another, the topics gonna relate to lens poisons and majority on Costner with that ‘gold ring’ (Nikon Lens) acclaims, and Tony with that L-Lens (Canon). Man, this is infectious! The hilarious moments well, we have tons of it along the road. But right now, let’s check out the Multiply Reception 2 in Malaysia…

We were so late that we missed out the photo shooting contest which was held on morning session and looking back on my watch, it was  already 3PM. Holy molly~ Everyone thought of havin lunch first before we reach but time was running out, so we changed plan instead. Reached Katsura Garden & Tea but didn’t see any photographers at all (haha). The owner told us to go look for the rest at photostudio, somewhere…. paid our fees, say hi to the pros and off we went for our epic adventure :D

You don’t wanna know how crazy they can be (during the shots) haha/

On Sunday…

Last Sunday… erm…. or first day of the week? I went Johore Bahru again… for a haircut. Guess what? RM45 of haircut by senior hairdresser. Actually is nothing…. so a nice hair style can somehow attract more attraction. Wahahhahaha! Ain’t my hair… just look normal? LOL!

I didn’t apply hair wax. It just looks nice!

And I went Laksa Shake @ City Square after arriving JB, since I dunno what to eat. I saw this weird Laksa shop. Got Asam Laksa lar…. SARAWAK Laksa lar…. Kelantan Laksa la…. and some ulu-ulu Laksa… Of course I’m gonna try on my hometown, Sarawak LAKSA! When it arrives my table, I looked at it for 30 seconds. WTF! WTF! WTF!

The taste is almost there but TOO SWEET! and TOO CREAMY! Tell me!! Sarawak’s Laksa tasted so sweet mer?????? It’s hot BTW with chilli padi’s in it -.- but I swear they are humiliating 2 our Sarawak Laksabecause you know what? They just put too much Kuah (paste)!

After the panas and pedas laksa (>.<), I went for a haircut @ Thomas & Guys. Man, this hairdressing shop is always packed and you gotta wait for an hour or two for your turn. After the haircut, I went for a movie — WILD HOGS! ahhahaha! funny movie about four gays ‘tough guy’ riding big bike along the country side — getting naked in the pond attracting the highway policeman. hahahaha!

Blackpepper Lamb

After the movie, I went Kenny Rogers for dinner. Wow! It’s been a while I didn’t eat roasted oven chicken. A quater plate like that costs RM14++ How on earth Malaysians can afford to eat? Especially Kuchingian! I still remember our Plaza Walk (Sarawak Plaza) copied Bintang Walk whereas KENNY ROGERS rocking the path. Mana tahu??? Brankrupt pula!!! Aahhahaahha! That’s why! To what kind of economy extend into what kind of citizen affordabilities and to what kind of desire they need. Am I right? But seemed Kuchingian knows how to enjoy themselves these days…. Like going to some medium class restaurant & Bistro…
