CNY 2010 – Day 3 & Day 4

February 28, 2010 - 4:09 pm  Print This No Comments

The days were filled with fun, laughters and school mates sessions. Well, after our 10 Golden Years Reunion, I have some private shooting session @ my sister's home and brought along Mike, Adrian & Gab for assistance. Glad the team were helpful and didn't mind much for some of their private time used. About 4.30pm, we drop by Madam Jong's house for CNY visiting and meet up the rest of the gangs there. Same old little gathering like what we did a few years back and Madam was gleeful to see how much her student's changed, from school life to working life and latter, marriage. EJ used to bring his cammo Canon Powershot along but guess this time is the "huge" camera on work – and that would be me. We captured some wonderful batch photos as well. Enjoy~

We had dinner @ Pizza Hut with the operating chiong Penang crew (Adrian, Gab, me & Mike), bought some popcorns & snacks (Lee Fah Mee) @ Cold Storage before heading for EJ's home for the Scooby Doo premieres. LOL!! Feels so childish with those snacks though but it taste good! It goes.. licky licky yummylicious! After the premieres, the audience claimed it was so 'blair witch project' – like till some almost fell asleep. Rotten Tomatoes Given : 93% Ahahahaahaha! SFW~ most prefer the trailer instead. Oh, I apologize for the apathy as my render were hooked up earlier + lack of time to compile. Oh well… we still enjoyed! LOL!!!

Gerard.. don't do that!~ where is another version with the boys? Mike???

Day 4 – CNY. Well didn't bring my camera along but had a fun filled afternoon with The SFWs and drop by Tang Chen Chen's house @ Muaratuan (dang far away from the city) after my dinner. Chen chen is pregnant and she might be deliver her baby any time soon. And still the same, she was as funny as before. Moon split up with us and met her fellow gangs @ bing while the 3 boys had a short midnight visiting @ my house and some wine session.

Pardon that… Iphone quality~ Kai Fei & Chen Chen behind…

CNY 2010 – Day 2

February 23, 2010 - 5:48 pm  Print This No Comments

Day 1 as usual, besides relative house visiting, it's all about snacks, food and drinks and do believe me, I hardly had soft drinks this lunar new year. Probably due to those gassy sodas & artificial sweetness contained. Well, I spent most of the time at home doing some projects and helped out a little on house chores whilst waiting for people to drop by. Is that simple else mom's gonna nag for her missing son who never sits still at home.

Day 2 marks another fruitful day of non-stop visiting from family members to fellow high school mates. Well, what I did was brought along my portable softbox along and play around with the help of assistant of course. Consider ideal enough for house to house family shooting. LOL! Okay.. let's see what we've got.

P/S : Timothy / Uncle Mike / Aunty Anne if you're reading this. I deeply apologize that I skipped your house visiting this year. I was really busy being booked around Kuching HAHAHAH! We'll see ya in SGP.

Alright alright, late afternoon, at about 3PM I drop by Irene's House and informed the usual buddies to be present and whalla, everyone turned out! Goodie goodie! But there are 2 new members in the 'family', one is a black cat named Mimo and another, Aw & Jeff's newborn – it's a baby girl! hahaha! Now we're all on a mission to try out Irene's home made Sarawak Laksa and glad the original taste is still there. Where can you find Laksa at this period of time? Irene's house that is! LOL!

Also, glad to meet Lawrence (Irene's brother) in real person. I get to know him online through photography and am pretty amazed with his inspirations really. We had whole lots of fun playing softbox & capturing some photos around. Oh yeah, Lawrence also bought me sio bees from Kenyalang's Yong Kwang Kopitiam and dang it taste as good as before.  Am loving it! There's this chat session we talk about online and he managed to purchase it a day before lunar new year eve, well, thank you a million for that Lawrence. :D Appreciate such jubilant warmth welcome! hehehe! Here's some candid shot from Lawrence:-

CNY 2010 – Day 1

February 19, 2010 - 5:08 pm  Print This No Comments

A happy & prosperous new year to you, your family and friends around. Another year has gone and welcome the year of the metal tiger. I was back to Kuching last saturday (13.02.2010) via JB bound KL and to Kuching. The journey, as usual was hectic from Singapore to JB whilst the second link at Tuas was clogged with vehicles. The queues & waiting time were somewhat worse and it went for a few kms' away from the JB customs (4 lanes) I recalled. The driver seemed to be an uncivilized person for cutting queues on that massive jam. That's not all. He drove recklessly as if it was police & robber chance. I could see finger pointing from drivers behind. Well, I do understand his concern; that is to reach Senai airport on time so we could catch our plane and check in earlier. Be it. We paid S$50 for the swift and usually it's The Malaysian Driving Style that is. Glad we reach airport 3 hours before departure. 3 hours? What am gonna do there? My hefty hand carries were trudged some distance to the terminal and for your understanding, after a year or so, the airport still undergone heavy renovation (in the progress of upgrading) on it's exterior. How long it'll be for them to reach the terminus I wonder?

My flight was scheduled to depart at 12.05pm bound Kuala Lumpur. I was lucky enough to get an on time flight which usually was postponed or delayed as far as Air Asia is concerned. The flight took about 45 minutes and arrived LCCT at around 1PM. This time am brilliant enough to do an early check-in via online to smoothen the progress and whalla, everything was in placed and not late even a single minute. There, I met a stranger Indian lady who was also on her way to Kuching. We chat along and got to know that her husband was being placed in Kuching for work for quite some times and she as well hopes to be transferred to Kuching to join him. How sweet of that. So, the flight departed on time and during the flight another aunty had spoken to me. I got to know that she is working in KL and was back to Kuching for holidays. We yab about life in Singapore and KL. Am really glad that there's still curious strangers around us but I hardly interact much with them and guess this season was exceptional. :D

How many 'glad' should I highlight here. Finally, am darn glad that I reached grandmother house on time for big family reunion. It's always poised with good food around the table but before that I had a little visit at the chi ji temple to pay respect for my late grandfather. There you go…. that's my gushy Chinese New Year eve. (Some early ang paos from my uncles & grandma of course – benefit of not married policy :P ) Oh ya…  I met a few photographers at friendship park and played fireworks…. photos available in facebook :D

The elders, aunty and uncle on the dining table as usual.

There my cousins as usual, it's getting lesser and lesser. All was married GOSH you see how time flies. purr..

You see some abalone here, meatballs, duck & chicken. Very the teochew!

Steamboat with fish & assorted meat soup

Shiny Ducky is delicious

Home made Steamed Chicken

And this is Chinese New Year Day 1. First stop was my grandma house of course. An early greet to the elderly and my fellow cousins but oh, there's too many of them. The place suddenly turned crowded and I had no idea where I'd start. Well, mostly are relative home visiting on Day 1 – nothing much. Was at home for the entire night, not knowing what to do since the vehicle was drove away by my sister. How sucky it was to be in Kuching without a vehicle bringing you anywhere else.

Enjoy the rest of the photo for Day 1 CNY

This dish is called Ka-Cha-Ma, some crushed leaf with white wine & chicken

Curry chicken, spicy & taste good

Home made Rendang (very spicy). Oh, am loving it~

~ Day 2 coming soon ~

CNY – Day 5

February 7, 2009 - 1:29 am  Print This No Comments

Ouch, it’s fifth day of chinese new year and never knew time flies. Moon & shirley suggested a Kolo Mee stall somewhere around Market Street to have our breakfast (Google : Pin here for the KOLO MEE). Never knew such stall exists and never try it before either and somemore, I met my uncle there – surprisingly. This is Shirley’s treat as she had promised me10 bowls of kolo mee Absolutely FREE (provided that I finish it there on the table). HAHA! Unfortunately, I only managed to have a bowl -.- and let’s see the ratings…

Oily noodle, topped with minced meat and roasted pork. Ow, you gotta love it. RM2 per bowl. :) There’s soy sauce kolo mee before and I swear one day I’ll be back for it. :D :D

Again, I forgot to take group pictures. ARGH!!!!!! Too excited with the kolo mee already! LMAO! We visited OneTJ which opened a few months back but Moon was not at present, she hung out with her friends. >.> haha. Next time, maybe :) Well, Moon… you’ve missed out another wonderful moments with us again at OneTJ. :D :D :D

One stop IT MALL in Kuching. Uhm.. in other words, Kuching based ’sim lim square’. The moment I went in I was like WTF? It was totally blank / deserted and only a few shops were opened. Ah, perhaps they were still in the Chinese New Year mood. Seen a few similar shops names here though :)

Red color brings prosperity. Firecrackers brings luck & chinese new year atmposhpere.

This is Jimmy & Mike.

Jimmy want some pose!

Mike want some action – no action leh!

The monkey is calling! Like the headshot for www.halyconstudio.net ?  :D

Mike was a bit confused with the doors and we played with it. How’s this building gonna pass with the fire exit inspection with a gas tank behind the door? LOL! Let Jimmy do the demo.

And yes.. we have TUNG TUNG CHIANG (Lion Dance). 3 lions performed. Picture showing one of the lion hibernating, and peeling (somebody’s gotta do it inside :P ) the orange skin.

Run! It’s coming our way!

We have the yellow, blue and red lions on the spot.

The orange peeled by the lion. haha. Nice one.

Now it’s Terence’s turn! He was so delighted lying there. LOL!

This is Terence & Shirley

Another dual for them.

Professional POSER I’d say. And I like working with such people. :D He was trained. HAHA!

Shirley want some potrait as well.

The 5 boys & a mini fountain behind. From left, Jimmy, Terence, Darren, MWSC, & Me.

Shirley alone. haha. What’s that leaflet doing down there >.<;

Evening time, I had a little gathering with the secondary school mates and later on CHIONG GIZMO. We had fun time playing CS (Oh, I headshot a lot of them HAHHAHHAHA) & Dota (Gawd, am so noob on this). SFW~ No, am not bringing my camera  with me as I need some break for the night :P After the game, we had a drink at nearby coffee shop and had WO TIE for supper; everyone seemed reluctant to leave. :> LOL Life goes on….

( Don’t mind the 2.0 pixel quality )

I flew to SG via JB the next day. Gosh the new JB Immigration check-point was huge, air-conditioned with fountain & garden inside. It took us 10 minutes to complete the ‘maze’. LOL… Before that, I had breakfast with MWSC @ Airport’s MACD. :D

He had Fillet-O-Fish

I had my Sausage McMuffin. Oops… blurred.

Mike drinking tea.

Alright, that’s a wrap up for my Chinese New Year 2009 in Kuching. I hope you enjoyed every moments here. :) Now back in Singapore & see what I have for everyone. kekekekeke…. To all friends & family members, I miss you all once again. See you sometimes this year. Well, I’ll be flying back frequently – no worries as I have tons of weddings to attend. LOL!
